Zoom Phone is Coming to FOA

FOA is moving to Zoom Phone – a service that lets you make and receive calls directly from your computer using your existing campus phone number. Starting on Nov. 13, 2024, most members of FOA will move to Zoom Phone, replacing traditional desk phones and Cisco Jabber with a more flexible, convenient option.

How to Have a Teams Meeting in a Zoom Room

  1. Ensure the person initiating the connection is the owner of the Zoom meeting.
  2. Start the Zoom meeting in the usual manner, How to Book a Zoom Room.
  3. Open Microsoft Teams and start or join the Teams meeting.
  4. In the Zoom meeting, click on Share Screen at the bottom of the Zoom window.
  5. Select the Teams meeting from the list of available windows to share.

Set Hyperlinks to Open in Outlook

If you want to ensure that hyperlinks in your emails open in your system's default web browser directly from Microsoft Outlook, follow these steps:

Open Outlook Options:

  • Launch Microsoft Outlook.
  • Click on the File tab in the top-left corner of the Outlook window.
 
  • Select Options from the list on the side of the screen to open the Outlook Options dialog box.

Connect to the Campus VPN on an iOS Device

Add the Campus VPN
  1. Download the Ivanti Secure Access Client from the App Store
    • If this is a UCD-issued device, the application may already be installed 
    •  
  2. Open the Ivanti application and enter the URL: vpn.ucdavis.edu

     
  3. On the next page, enter Campus VPN as the connection name and click Connect.

     
  4. For "Secure Access" Would Like to Add VPN Configurations. Click Allow.

Use Google Photos to Transfer Photos from your iPhone

  1. Install Google Photos on your iPhone. Open the App Store and search for Google Photos. You will need to be signed in with an Apple ID.

     
  2. Open the Google Photo app and Allow access to photos. You can choose specific photos or auto back up all photos (recommended for work phones). 

      
  3. Sign in to Google Photo with your UCD Account.
